The YETI Hopper M30 is one of the most popular soft coolers on the market, but at $350, it costs more than many hard coolers. Is the premium price justified?

I tested this soft cooler across camping trips, road trips, and kids’ sports days to see if it lives up to the hype. After weeks of real-world use, I found a cooler that keeps ice and drinks cold for around two days while offering frustration-free access through its magnetic closure.

YETI claims the opening is 50% wider than previous zipper designs, and in practice, it makes loading and unloading the cooler much easier. The magnets are strong enough to keep the cooler sealed but not so powerful that you need two hands to open it.

It also floats, making it better suited for water activities. The trade-off is a stiffer zipper that requires more effort and doesn’t offer the quick-access convenience of the magnetic design.
